Absolute pickme GARBAGE on The Guardian today
"Couples on Surviving Trauma and Loss: Five partners whose love has endured seismic changes, from refugees forced apart by war to a couple left with horrific injuries"
The first two stories in the article are legit: a couple in a terrible car accident and a couple separated by the Sudanese civil war. Then things start going to hell and get worse and worse. All of the things that FDS warns against are here: codependency, gaslighting, lying, cheating, excuse-making, blame shifting, martyrdom. Women continue to be conditioned to accept sub-par treatment by these kinds of narratives.
The ladies of FDS refuse to help relationships "survive trauma" that is LITERALLY CREATED BY THE MAN IN THE RELATIONSHIP AND HIS SELFISH AND OVERALL TERRIBLE DECISIONS. ‘I was in prison for 2,192 days; she wrote to me almost daily’
Laure, 58, and Jerry, 62, survived his jail sentence for causing death by dangerous driving. They live in Alabama, and now run a support network for the families of prisoners. Laure Jerry and I met in 1995 and married four months later. I tell him all the time I would marry him again, but faster. We’d both been married twice before and dating was the last thing I was looking for. But he ticked all the boxes.
I had two daughters and he had one. We moved our family from Tennessee to Alabama, to raise them in the country. We were living the dream. But on 17 March 2003, it was shattered when Jerry caused a head-on car collision which killed a young mother. He had been driving drunk.
I felt rage, betrayal. When we met, we were both recovering alcoholics, so I had only known him sober. Now a life had been lost. I didn’t want him dead, but I wanted him to hurt real bad. We lived in a small town, and I grieved for that family. I felt embarrassment. I had to get to the forgiveness part quickly so I could get through each day.
Jerry spent 10 days in the ICU. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to six years in prison and 19 on probation. I was scared – emotionally, practically, financially, spiritually. I wanted to stay married but didn’t know how. I didn’t know what you do when someone you love is in prison.
His first year home, we argued all the time. I’d put my hand on his shoulder and he’d push it away
I wrote to him almost every night. I could afford one dollar-a-minute phone call a week and petrol for the 100-mile drive to visit every two weeks. I felt a lot of anger in those first years. I remember burying the cat, crying, saying, “This is a dad job.” I tried to experience the girls’ graduations for both of us.
His first year home, we argued all the time. I’d put my hand on his shoulder and he’d push it away; he was still in survival mode.
We’re grandparents now and enjoy our family immensely. We run a support network for prisoner families, called Extended
Family. I started it six months into his sentence.
Jerry will still say, “You stayed with me all those years,” but I don’t think of it that way. I’m not going to make him do the dishes for the rest of our lives. We spent six years without each other; we don’t want to spend another minute apart.
Jerry On our first date, I took Laure and her daughters to see Cinderella at the theatre. When I got home, I wrote “She’s the one” on the back of the programme.
We had a good life. I had a small engineering business, work grew busy, and we moved cities. But I was in a mess. I got into narcotics but hid it from my family. The night of the accident, I had stopped at a liquor store. I was in a blackout. Moments later, a young woman was dead and I was airlifted to hospital. I was shocked, remorseful, disheartened.
My wife has a big and kind heart. I tried to protect her from the police investigation and the likelihood of prison. I didn’t want our girls walking around with the stigma of a dad who had killed someone.
In Alabama, incarceration is uncontested grounds for divorce, but there was never a question of Laure leaving me. On an early prison visit, I told her I wouldn’t blame her if she wanted to leave. She looked at me and said, “I’d be more miserable than I am now.” I’ll never forget it.
I was in prison for 2,192 days and she wrote to me almost daily. There were guys that got nothing. I felt blessed and honoured. She would arrive every two weeks and I would put on a smile. But I pitied myself; I felt useless, unable to provide for my family.
When I came home, I was harsher than before. Meanwhile, this woman I loved had blossomed. I had to adjust. There’s a not a day that I don’t pay for my disastrous decision in some way, shape or form. We worked through the mess I made together, and we’re closer because of it.
‘It was a form of gaslighting. He led a double life’
Keith, 59, and Claire, 57, survived his gambling addiction. They live in Sussex. Keith Claire and I had known each other in the 80s, and reconnected online 20 years later. Claire was living abroad, and I was on my way to broke. She’d make short trips to the UK, and we’d laugh through days out and long lunches. She was intelligent, full of life; a better person than I was.
I first entered a casino at 16. By 18, I’d borrowed, conned and stolen from everyone I knew. I was an addict. Through adulthood, I’d made and lost small fortunes and entire businesses. I’d play Monopoly for real money, or sit in a room of the club I owned, drinking brandy, snorting as much cocaine as I could.
I wasn’t a constant drug user or gambler. When Claire visited, I’d try to keep it together; but then I’d get desperate and make excuses to go to London for “work”. When she moved to the UK with her three kids in 2009, I’d disappear into a room of the home we shared for days, in a heady state of gambling, drugs and porn, too embarrassed to re-emerge. I had intermittent spells in Gambling Anonymous, but I found it hard to ask for help.
Claire paid for the house and put food on the table. I never stole from her, but I’m still surprised she didn’t walk out. By 2014, I’d had a heart attack and was nursing my mother, who had cancer. I would drive her to the hospital every day, off my tits, bring her home, make her food, then shut myself in another room and gamble online.
I couldn’t see myself in the mirror any more. I wanted to die. On 28 June 2014, I logged on to a website for people seeking affairs and used it for porn
. That decision would almost end us: when Claire discovered the website in her search history, she sent me a Dear John letter. The next day, she drove me to residential rehab. The only rule I broke there was asking her to spend one night. I had to save the relationship.
I’ve been clean for six years now; Claire is part of the reason why. People talk about languages of love. For me those are quality time, acts of service. Boy, were there acts of kindness and service from Claire. Without her, I could well be dead.
Claire I was 18, and a poor student, when I first met Keith. He seemed glamorous, exciting, funny, intelligent. He was also a known gambler, but when we reconnected years later, that appeared to be in his past. Yet, with hindsight, nothing about the start of our relationship makes sense.
When I visited, he’d urgently have work or disappear into a room for days at a time. I’d spend hours on edge, struggling to trust him, but he would rationalise his behaviour, omitting huge details, claiming he’d simply drunk too much. It was a form of gaslighting. He led a double life.
When Keith decided on residential rehab, I knew that if I didn’t support him, there was no future
The first time I confronted him, I’d found an empty drugs packet, but he lied his way out of it. I became scared to ask, although we both knew he needed help. When his mother was unwell, he had the perfect alibi. He was an addict but he was responsible – and he took exquisite care of her. I was fearful but I had to get on with life.

When Keith decided on residential rehab, I knew that if I didn’t support him, there was no future. I didn’t want significant time apart, but when an addict is serious about making changes, you have to put your own needs aside.
The most soul-destroying moment came when I found the affairs website. I had been betrayed by gambling and drugs, but my belief in the purity of our love had kept me going. I wrote to him saying it was over. From rehab, Keith proved to me it was only curiosity (there was no activity on his account), and I was open enough to reconciliation to visit him.
Emotionally, we’re more independent now, although we share bank accounts and he supports us financially. I’ve grown, too. I used to tell friends that Keith felt like an addiction to me. I’d waited years for a stable home life together: eventually, he walked the most difficult path in order to truly change.
‘Friends saw us as the perfect couple, but it was a lie’
Maryam, 31, and Amir, 33, survived his affair. They live in California. Maryam When Amir had an affair, I had a thousand reasons to leave but looked for the one to stay. Our relationship had started as an affair, too. We had been couple-friends in our previous marriages and used to hang out as a group of four. Then, in February 2017, Amir and his wife broke up and he came on a trip with my husband and me. One night, we were up late, talking, while my husband slept. Amir opened up about his marriage and I began to sense he had feelings for me. I had relationship problems, too, and we started an affair. I ended my marriage.
Over the next 18 months, friends came to see us as the perfect couple. They would comment on how loving our relationship was. But I couldn’t forgive myself for how we’d started, and his divorce was a mess. He spent nights with his ex. I broke up with him several times. Things looked great on the surface but we both carried unresolved pain.
By the end of 2019, I became suspicious of his relationship with a co-worker. She was too intimate at the Christmas party and he was jumpy when she called. Then I found a credit card charge to a cafe, clearly for two people.
I loved him deep down but anger overwhelmed me. He asked over and over for a chance to prove he could change
It took me 10 days to get the full details from him. It had been going on for months and they’d slept together six times. I couldn’t breathe; I felt stupid. Everything that had gone before felt like a lie. I left him.
Amir telephoned non-stop and showed up at my parents’. I loved him deep down but anger overwhelmed me. He asked over and over for a chance to prove he could change. Eventually, I agreed to give him three months. We started individual and couples’ therapy and talked through every detail of our relationship. I couldn’t bear to sleep in the same room as him, but I could look at his face again. I agreed to more time.
I see the consistency and changes Amir has made, his commitment. When I discovered his affair, I was ready to give up on our relationship, but we have both grown. No one knows what the future holds and I have my fears. But, right now, I love the way he loves me.
Amir Maryam was the first time in my life I felt real love. But we were both married and I told myself it couldn’t happen.
As time passed, my ex-wife had an affair and my marriage died. Maryam had problems, too, and I made my feelings known. I admired her looks, the way she thinks. This wasn’t a game that I’d started; it was coming from the bottom of my heart.
I was born in the Middle East, in a war zone. As a child, I experienced sexual and physical abuse at the hands of my teacher, but told no one. The human psyche finds soothing mechanisms to alleviate pain. For me, that was sex.
I was in the most loving relationship with Maryam. The sex was amazing. We bought a house, enjoyed travelling. But the foundations were shaky and I unconsciously sought more.
When I got close to a co-worker, it turned into an affair, starting in May 2019 and lasting several months. It was pure sexual desire. This wasn’t someone I wanted to change the course of my life. We were opportunistic and, in those moments, I became blind to the consequences.
When Maryam found out, I tried to lie. I was naive about how much I was going to hurt her. She wanted nothing to do with me. She blocked my calls and texts, and told our family and friends all the details. Everyone who loved me looked at me as a monster. For the first time in my life, I started to wake up.
I made fixing myself and our relationship my only priority. I promised Maryam she would see a change, and started intense therapy, twice a week. I addressed my childhood trauma and sought support for sex addiction. I realised how much I was willing to do for Maryam.
At the beginning, it was simply about keeping Maryam; but it transformed into strengthening our bond. She has made sacrifices for me, been my guide and love. Every day, I’m more appreciative.

Greater London in Coronavirus Tier 3 (Very high alert) from Weds 16th Dec 00:01
Due to a sharp rise in Coronavirus cases, Greater London (32 boroughs + the City of London) will move in to
Tier 3 (Very high alert) on
Wednesday Dec 16th at 00:01.
Most surrounding counties including all of Kent, most of Surrey, and parts of Beds, Bucks, and Essex are (or will be - as of Saturday) in Tier 3 as well.
The Usual Stuff
Stay 2m (6ft) away from people that you don't live with where practical, and at least
1m (3ft) away at all times. Do your very best to maintain hygiene,
washing your hands and shared surfaces at every opportunity. And of course, you should only do what you're comfortable with.
If you have
any symptoms of COVID-19, even mild,
stay home for at least 10 days until you no-longer have a temperature.
Get a test through the
gov.uk testing website or calling 119. Others in your household must
stay home for 14 days source.
Most coronavirus cases are mild, but if you're very ill, call 111, or in an emergency, call 999 -
DO NOT go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital with COVID-19. Continue to keep NHS appointments for other purposes unless your clinician tells you otherwise or the government changes the advice.
What are the restrictions?
Under Tier 3:
- In general, you cannot mix with other households indoors or outdoors, in private or public
- There are a few exceptions. You can meet with a group of six (maintaining social distance) in public parks, beaches (good luck in London), open countryside, public gardens (e.g. Kew), allotments, sports grounds, playgrounds, or in the grounds of a heritage site
- Pubs, cafes and restaurants will move to takeaway only
- Cinemas (other than drive in), theatres, casinos, bowling alleys, and indoor play areas all close
- Attractions with indoor parts like zoos or botanical gardens have to close the indoor parts
- You should work from home if you can but go to work if you can't and try to minimise journeys
- You cannot stay away from home overnight apart from for work, medical, care, or other exceptional reasons
Single adult households can still form a (permanent) mutual support bubble with one other household.
There are various other exceptions for things like weddings (up to 15 people), funerals (30 people) and in a few other areas. You can
read the full Tier 3 restrictions here.
You can leave your home to escape injury or harm. If you break these rules you may be fined from £1000 or more, depending on the offence.
Making a Christmas Bubble
Between 23rd and 27th December the rules are being loosened so we can see close family and friends over the festive period. For these four days you can form an exclusive ‘
Christmas bubble’ composed of people from no more than
three households Note that:
- You can only be in one Christmas bubble and you cannot change your Christmas bubble
- You can only meet your Christmas bubble in private homes or in your garden, places of worship, or public outdoor spaces
- You can travel between tiers and UK nations for the purposes of meeting your Christmas bubble
- if you form a Christmas bubble, you should not meet socially with friends and family that you do not live with in your home or garden unless they are part of your Christmas bubble
Can I visit London now?
Theoretically yes. Many of the typical tourist attractions will be closed during Tier 3 so make sure you check anything you want to do in advance and book the limited space available.
Many incoming foreign travellers from higher risk countries are subject to a mandatory two week quarantine. Check if
your country is on the list.
Test to Release scheme
Starting on Dec 15th, you can reduce your time in isolation after arrival to 5 days (instead of 10 days) by paying for a coronavirus test.
This must be from a
test provider participating in the government scheme and you have to opt in on your passenger locator form when you arrive in England from abroad. There are currently very few providers and the tests are quite expensive (£180) but this list will likely be expanded in the coming weeks. You will need to pre-book (there's considerable lead time).
The full guidance is here Can I go somewhere else?
The government advises that you should not leave a Tier 3 area unless for work, education, or
some other good reason, and if you normally live in a Tier 3 area you should not stay away from home overnight.
Face masks
Face coverings are compulsory on all forms of public transport and in all shops, takeaways, hospitals and care homes. This is a law and you can be fined if you do not comply. You don't need to buy a fancy respirator, instead think about buying or making your own from fabric, or use a scarf or bandana. As long as you wash them at a decent heat between uses this is much more environmentally friendly than disposable surgical masks.
The NHS App
The NHS COVID-19 app is
now available. It uses Apple & Google's co-developed bluetooth protocol which does not transmit any of your personal details to anyone, including the government. It's been used as the basis for apps in privacy-conscious countries like Germany and Ireland, and is generally considered safe and secure.
The app is particularly effectively in dense urban areas, and NHS England's also includes features to help you check in to venues and get a test.

With the short days, the cold weather, and the lockdown restrictions, this is going to be a hard time for everyone.

Greater London under Tier 2 from tomorrow, Weds 2nd Dec
London (and the rest of England) will be returning to the Tier system. Initially we'll be under
Tier 2 (High alert) along with most of the rest of England.
Notable
Tier 3 areas near London include all of Kent* and Slough.
(*the administrative county, not Bromley and Bexley that still sometimes claim to be in it)
The Usual Stuff
Stay 2m (6ft) away from people that you don't live with where practical, and at least
1m (3ft) away at all times. Do your very best to maintain hygiene,

What are the restrictions?
Almost everything should now be reopening, except for nightclubs.
However there are restrictions under Tier 2:
- You cannot mix with other households indoors, in any setting, private or public
- You can meet with 6 people outdoors, from any households
- Pubs and restaurants may only serve alcohol with a substantial meal and will be table service only
- Pubs and restaurants must stop taking orders at 10pm although can stay open until 11pm for takeaways.
- Other hospitality like casinos or theatres must close at 11pm
- Cinemas, theatres, stadiums and so on are restricted to 50% capacity with a maximum of 1000 people indoors or 2000 people outdoors. This does mean football will be allowing fans in again, although ticket demand will likely far exceed supply
- You should work from home if you can but go to work if you can't.
Single adult households can still form a (permanent) mutual support bubble with one other household.
There are various other exceptions for things like weddings (up to 15 people), funerals (30 people) and in a few other areas. You can
read the full Tier 2 restrictions here.
You can leave your home to escape injury or harm. If you break these rules you may be fined from £1000 or more, depending on the offence.

Theoretically yes. Many of the typical tourist attractions will have reduced capacity so make sure you book anything you want to do in advance. Many incoming foreign travellers from higher risk countries are subject to a mandatory two week quarantine. Check if
your country is on the list.
Can I go somewhere else?
You can travel to Tier 1 or Tier 2 areas. When in a Tier 1 area, you must continue to obey Tier 2 rules. The government advises against travel to Tier 3 areas for all but essential purposes.
There are different rules for Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We will need to confirm what they are over the next few days.

Sets/Hangouts of each Gang/Set
Sets in GTA Online
Families
CGF/Chamberlain Gangster Families - Chamberlain Hills half/Western half of Forum Drive, from the project buildings (except the 2 project buildings on Carson Avenue which CAF own) as well as the skate park/baseball pitch West and North of Chamberlain Hills - They chill all along the Chamberlain Hills part of Forum Drive as well as the Chamberlain Hills skatepark and baseball pitch - They’re mainly at war with OCB but also ESB - Very active at daytime and nighttime
FDF/Forum Drive Families - Eastern half/Strawberry half of Forum Drive, the 1-story houses along the street as well as the 1 project building on the Northern side or the road (the 2 project buildings on the Southern side of the road along Carson Avenue is CAF) - They chill all along the Strawberry part of Forum Drive. In-between a Salon and a Mexican in an alley on the North side of Strawberry Avenue close to were it meets Innocence Boulevard as well as the car park to the Mexican restaurant here too. In an alley to the South side of Innocence Boulevard close to wear it meets with Carson’s Avenue opposite Power Street - In the story we learn they’re a new set who broke away from the CGF set, created by Franklin and Lamar - They’re mainly at war with ESB but also OCB - Mainly active at nighttime
CAF/Carson Avenue Families - Carson Avenue, in both Strawberry and Chamberlain Hills. They’re from the 4 project buildings along Carson Avenue (2 either side), in-between Forum Drive and Strawberry Avenue - They mainly chill in the alleyway in-between their two project buildings on the Southern half of Carson Avenue and in the alleyway behind their two project buildings on the Strawberry side of Carson Avenue, as well as on the walls on the Chamberlain Hills side of Carson Avenue and on the Strawberry Side of Carson Avenue outside the ‘Tahitian’ on the corner where Carson Avenue and Strawberry Avenue meet - A gang attack happens in one of the project buildings on the Chamberlain Hills side of Carson Avenue - They’re at war with both OCB and ESB but don’t bang that much - Mainly active at nighttime and rarely active at daytime
DNF/Davis Neighbourhood Families ^ - Originally from Davis, they don’t chill there due to Ballas taking over the whole neighbourhood - They chill at other Families set hangout spots, and are distinct due to wearing grey, black and white clothing which often says Davis or Dust Devils on it and not really repping green - The only reason we know they’re Davis Families is because of the director mode has them as Davis Families alongside Chamberlain Families and Forum Drive Families, although they don’t spawn naturally in Davis - They’re mainly at war with OCB but also ESB
Theory of why they aren’t in Davis and where they moved to: - There are no blocks in Davis which the ESB and OCB don’t claim, meaning they can’t really live in Davis anymore, so here is a theory of where they moved to - DNF was the new generation of the Grove Street Families. The Ballas and Families had a truce, and the OCB started recruiting young teens from DNF territory but since DNF and OCB were friendly it didn’t matter, until the truce ended and all the younger members were OCB so the DNF older members had to move - They moved into 2 CGF project buildings, the ones only enterable via Strawberry Avenue or the alleyway behind it, the two buildings sandwiched between a small CGF building and a CAF building in the Chamberlain Hills neighbourhood. - CGF sanctioned them to recruit the youngsters from these buildings, however the older members who live in the buildings are a mix of CGF OG’s who always lived there and DNF OG’s who moved there
Ballas
OCB/Original Covenant Ballas - They control Southern Davis, from the 1-stories houses all along Grove Street, Covenant Avenue and Brouge Avenue until it meets Carson Avenue. - They mainly chill in the cul-de-sac but can be found chilling all along Grove Street, as well as the alleyway opposite the the West of Covenant Avenue as well as the area of Brouge Avenue in-between Covenant Avenue and Grove Street - They’re mainly at war with DNF and CGF - Very active at daytime but much more active at nighttime
ESB/East Side Ballas - They are from the 2 Davis blocks in-between Davis Avenue, Macdonald Street, Carson Avenue and Roy Lowenstein Boulevard. The Northern part of Brouge Avenue runs between their two blocks. - They mainly chill in an alleyway between a discount store and an iron worker’s, as well as outside a liquor store, both on the East side of Northern Brouge Avenue, and in an alleyway in-between 2 houses on the West side of Northern Brouge Avenue. They also spawn on the block the court is on directly North of their 2 blocks, they chill on the Northern side of Macdonald Street near the ramp paving as well as along Davis Avenue on this block. - This set is largely nocturnal and rarely spawns outside or night hours - They’re mainly at war with FDF and CAF but also DNF and CGF - Only active at nighttime
SRB/South Rancho Ballas ^ - They chill at other Balla hangouts, and can be identified as they often wear clothing says Rancho, also they’re the only Balla set to wear biker helmets, durags, baggy vests and/or hoodies (the other sets wear tight vests, baggy shirts, caps, varsity jackets and/or bandanas) - So if you see a Balla that has a biker helmet, durag, hoodie and/or baggy vest it’s a SRB member - The only reason we know they’re South Rancho Ballas is because the director mode has them as South Rancho Ballas alongside East Ballas and OC Ballas, although they don’t spawn naturally in Rancho - They’re mainly at war with OLSV and NSV
Theory of why they aren’t in Rancho: - I’m assuming they’re from South Roy Lowenstein Boulevard, from the the 1-storey houses on the 2 Rancho blocks that run along Roy Lowenstein Boulevard in-between Dutch London Street and Macdonald Street - However only they’re only from the Western part of these blocks from the 1-story houses which face the Roy Lowenstein Boulevard. SRB don’t spawn there due to being close to Vagos territory - It makes sense for them to be here, as these are the only parts of South Rancho where Vagos don’t spawn - The Eastern halves of these two Blocks which run through Jamestown Street belong to the Vagos, with their members coming from the 1-storey houses on these blocks which face Jamestown Street
GSB/Grove Street Ballas OR DZB/Dead Zone Ballas & WSB/West Side Ballas - These aren’t real sets, but I made it up if any of you wanna roleplay as if there are extra Balla sets - They are sets that broke away from OCB with their permission due to becoming bigger than the set that originally recruited them - If you use GSB: They are the ones along all of Grove Street, and they broke away from OCB due to being bigger than the set which recruited them which is OCB - if you use DZB and WSB: The backstory is OCB made sure Grove Street was split in two, so they would remain the strongest and biggest Balla set - If you choose to roleplay with DZB and WSB as sets, then DZB members would be the ones chilling in the Cul-De-Sac and WSB members would be the ones chilling in West Grove Street - Brouge Avenue’s centre-line is what splits Grove Street in half - OCB members are now only the ones chilling in the alleyway opposite Covenant Avenue as well as the Southern part of Brouge Avenue between Covenant Avenue and Grove Street. - OCB chill close on their border with Grove Street since it’s safer than chilling along Covenant Avenue - DZB very active both daytime and nighttime, WSB active at daytime and very active at nighttime
Vagos
OLSV/Original Los Santos Vagos - They are from South Jamestown Street in Rancho (the area of the street in-between Carson Avenue and Dutch London Street) from the Rancho Projects on the east side of the road and the 1-story houses on the west side of the road - They don’t control the entire block opposite West of Rancho Projects, just the East Half facing Jamestown Street, as the West half of this block which faces Roy Lowenstein Boulevard is where SRB members are from - They chill all along their part of Jamestown Street in between Carson’s Avenue and Dutch London Street on both sides - They’re at war with SRB - Very active at both daytime and nighttime
NSV/North Side Vagos - they’re from the 4 blocks full of 1-story Houses in Rancho, in-between Innocence Boulevard, Roy Lowenstein Boulevard, Little Bighorn Avenue and Carson Avenue (with Jamestown Street and Macdonald Street running through their blocks) - They only control half of the block in-between Carson Avenue and Macdonald Street, the half which faces Jamestown Street. SRB are from the half which faces the Roy Lowenstein Boulevard. - They mainly chill along on Jamestown Street in-between the 2 Southern blocks of their territory, but also chill in the alleyways of the 2 Northern blocks too - They’re at war with LVA and SRB - Active at daytime rarely, mostly active at nighttime
ESV/East Side Vagos - They are from around the Cypress Flats area, along Orchardvile Avenue in-between Innocence Boulevard and Dry Dock Street - They chill along Orchardvile Avenue in-between Innocence Boulevard and Dry Dock Street, as well as in an alleyway on the South side of Innocence Boulevard in-between south Shambles Street and Orchardvile Avenue - They’re a very active set, spawning in Cypress Flats for 2 gang attacks (the Railyards in the South of Cypress Flats and Steel Foundry in the North of Cypress Flats) as well as at the El Burro Heights Scrapyard, and spawning in large numbers on their turf chilling - There is no residential housing or buildings in the neighbourhood except for one 5-story block of flats at the Northern-tip of South Shambles Street it seems, so it’s possible some of the warehouses were converted into flats which is possible since all the business are shut and the area is only filled with ESV and pedestrians - They’re at war with OMBG - Very active at both daytime and nighttime
Marabunta Grande
OMBG/Original Marabunta Grande - They are from El Burro Heights, in-between Amarillo Way and El Rancho Boulevard, from the one story houses of Amarillo Vista and Fudge Lane, chilling at Fudge Lane - They don’t spawn in Online, likely due to being pressured constantly by ESV, an extremely active set who they beef with from the Cypress Flats - They’re at war with ESV - They’re not active in Online, only in Storymode
SVMB/South Vespucci Marabunta Grande - They’re from South Vespucci, from 4 blocks either side of Melanoma Street (in-between Bay City Avenue and Goma Street) - Their territory consists of serval small 2-story and 3-story flat buildings - They chill near the alleyway on the South side of Melanoma Street and are the same group which appear in the gang attack at Vespucci Canals - They’re in conflict with the Armenian Mob, Chinese Mob and Korean Mob due to be territorial and dangerous - They’re at war with the Armenian Mob, Korean Mob and Chinese Mob, being the main reason these mobsters don’t chill on their blocks/turf - They don’t chill near the flat buildings in Online, instead they only appear for a gang attack in the Vespucci Canals, where they’re highly armed and in big numbers
EVMB/East Vinewood Marabunta Grande - The group that chills in the sewers under the bridges that take you from the Casino Car Park to Mirror Park - They’re from the houses and flats on the 3 blocks either side of York Street and Tangerine Street - Although it’s in Vinewood in a nice neighbourhood, the area where they stem from is fairly gritty, consisting of small flat buildings and 1-story ghetto houses, as well as businesses such as a motel, taxi hq and a laundromat for example, most look like struggling business, with the area being a baby ghetto inside a nice neighbourhood - They likely have to chill in the sewers so they aren’t too close to the East Vinewood Lost MC Clubhouse - They’re possibly at war with the Lost MC - They are the only Mara set found in free roam in Online (outside gang attacks and missions) - They’re only active at nighttime
Lost MC
They don’t have sets but have 4 hangouts Stab City is home of the Blaine County Chapter and East Vinewood is home to the LS Chapter
- The clubhouse East of the Casino car park
- The Hookies restaurant at North Chumash (Most likely a front for money laundering)
- The Stab City Trailer Park
- R L Hunter and Sons business (The few buildings southwest of the Grapeseed Airstrip, also most likely a front for money laundering)
Gangs/Mobs with no territory
VLA/Varrrios Los Aztecas - One set/block block which is North of the compound, East of the hospital and West of the railway tracks - They chill mainly on this block, mainly standing outside the theatre and the block of flats here - They don’t spawn in Online free-roam, although they’re still active (their block is always surrounded by drug-addicts and prostitutes during night time hours, so they’re mainly just trappings and pimping and aren’t banging these days) - They likely can’t post outside their flats due to being too close to the NSV blocks - They can also be seen in free-roam via the MC contract called gun-running where they’re in an arms trade with the Lost MC and Italian Mafia
Armenian Mob - They own and run the scrapyard as a front for money laundering - They only chill at the scrapyard - They don’t spawn in Online, likely due to the Maras, a very violent and territorial gang, becoming more aggressive (posting in the Vespucci Canals for gang attacks with heavy weaponry and high numbers) - South Arsenal Street which runs along the length of the scrapyard is always filled with prostitutes, implying they’re pimps even though they don’t spawn there much in Online
Chinese Mob/Triads - From the block on the West side of Ginger Street in Little Seoul across the road from the car wash and convenience store - They mainly chill on and around the stairs of this block, and share their territory with the Kkangpae who sometimes spawn here - They don’t spawn in online, likely due to the Maras becoming more aggressive (posting in the Vespucci Canals for gang attacks with heavy weaponry and high numbers) - A few prostitutes spawn outside their flats suggesting they’re pimps even though they don’t spawn there much in Online
Korean Mob/Kkangpae - From the block on the West side of Ginger Street in Little Seoul across the road from the car wash and convenience store - They mainly chill on and around the stairs of this block, and share their territory with the Triads who sometimes spawn here - They don’t spawn in online, likely due to the Maras becoming more aggressive (posting in the Vespucci Canals for gang attacks with heavy weaponry and high numbers) - A few prostitutes spawn outside their flats suggesting they’re pimping even though they don’t spawn there much in Online
Italian Mob/Bonelli Mafia Family - They don’t spawn in free-roam except for 1 Biker mission (other than this they are only in 1 story mode mission) - In the story mode mission we learn that they own most of LS’s construction sites - They appear to be allied with the Professionals, or they are at least hiring them, as they appear at a lot of gang attacks on construction sites, including the site where the story mode mission takes place
Martin Madrazo’s Mexican Cartel - They guard Martin Madrazo’s Ranch which is called La Fuente Blanca - This is where they chill - They’re a Mexican Cartel led and run by Martin Madrazo
El Rubio’s Colombian Cartel - They are on Cayo Perico, which is El Rubio’s island which is only visitable during the Heist there - Members can also spawn in free-roam for a random event, where they’re drunk and where you can find a key for an El Rubio Office, although if you already have the key you will just find cash
Duggan Crime Family - Texan Crime Family which now owns the Casino - The appear in the Casino Penthouse missions and Casino Heist
Key: Chill on the turf of other sets = ^

Amazing Race Route Concept #2
Warning: massive amount of text ahead. I created a mostly functional race route around the world (all loactions like buildings, businesses, landmarks, etc. are REAL locations and could theoretically actually work in the race). I tried to have a good variety in locations and types of challenges, but it's really hard! I find it a lot harder to complain about challenge design after making this. Even though this could technically happen there are probably some safety concerns in going to South Africa and Lesotho and it's probably not possible for the American Amazing Race to film in Cuba, but I decided to do it anyway. If you have any questions or feedback please let me know!

Once you have chosen the right band, you’ll be rewarded with your next clue.
Clue #6
Drive to Vinales Valley Tobacco Field and search the marked area for your next clue.
Clue #7
Perfectly roll ten Cuban cigars, five per contestant. Watch the example closely, as any small mistake in rolling the tobacco leaf will cause the cigar to fail. Once all of the cigars have been perfectly rolled, you’ll receive your next clue.
Clue #8
Take a long drive to the eastern side of Cuba and the pit-stop at Ignacio Agramonte Park in Camaguey! The last team to check into the pit-stop will be eliminated.
Pit-Stop, Leg 11
-first: trip to Botswana
-last: eliminated
LEG 12
Cuba - USA
Clue #1
For the first part of this leg, you’ll be staying in Cuba! Drive yourself using the car you used in the last leg down Neptuno street in Havana, where you will find a guarapo stall with a flag.
Clue #2
Using the hand-press to crush sugarcane, make forty glasses of guarapo. Once all of the glasses have been successfully made, you’ll be handed your next clue.
Clue #3
Drive to the Tropicana Night Club for your next clue.
Clue #4
Roadblock: Who can make it and shake it?
For this challenge, one team member must follow the instructions of the costume designer to create a costume for one of the showgirls. If the costume is made correctly and given a pass, teams will be given their next clue.
Clue #5
Teams must drive to Aeropuerto de La Habana Ciudad Libertad, where you will embark on a charter flight to Key West, Florida, back in the United States. Once in Key West, teams must go to the southernmost point in the continental United States for their next clue.
Clue #6
Make your way to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, where you’ll find your next clue.
Clue #7
Roadblock: Who is a reader, a writer, and a decipherer?
Ernest Hemingway, known for books like The Old Man and the Sea, had a notoriously bad handwriting, with little regards to punctuation or accuracy. One team member must copy one of Hemingway’s notes perfectly, letter for letter, on the provided typewriter. If it was typed perfectly, you will be handed a decoder key which you can use to find the hidden message, which will reveal the location of your final challenge.
Answer: Smathers Beach
Clue #8
Now that you’ve made it to Smathers Beach, you’ll partake in a final challenge. Out in between the marked buoys are bundles of letter tiles. You must dive down to retrieve them and bring them back up to shore. Figure out what you’re supposed to spell out with them, and once you think you have the answer, hang the tiles in order on your clothesline. If you have the correct answer, you’ll be given the final clue.
Answer: United States, Japan, South Korea, India, Oman, South Africa, Lesotho, Greece, North Macedonia, Cuba, United States (teams must figure out that they have to spell out all of the countries they visited in order on the race)
Clue #9
Congratulations! Make your way to the final pit-stop at Fort Zachary Cruise Pier! Go, go, go, the first team to reach the pit-stop will win 1 MILLION dollars!
Pit-Stop, Leg 12
10 countries
4 continents
over 27,000 miles
first: 1 million dollars

Who doesn't have to wear a mask, and how to get an exemption card
Who doesn't have to wear a mask, and how to get an exemption card
You can download a card to show on your phone, or to print out
ByNeil ShawNetwork Content Editor08:33, 13 JAN 2021Updated11:21, 13 JAN 2021 Supermarkets across the UK are clamping down on mask rules after the beginning of a third national lockdown in England.
Aldi, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose are among those taking the rules more seriously than ever.
Many branches will now have security guards who will ban anyone from entering the store if they are not wearing a mask - unless they are exempt.
In England you must wear a face covering in the following indoor settings (examples are given in brackets):
public transport (aeroplanes, trains, trams and buses) taxis and private hire vehicles transport hubs (airports, rail and tram stations and terminals, maritime ports and terminals, bus and coach stations and terminals) shops and supermarkets (places which offer goods or services for retail sale or hire) shopping centres (malls and indoor markets) auction houses premises providing hospitality (bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes), except when seated at a table to eat or drink (see exemptions ) post offices, banks, building societies, high-street solicitors and accountants, credit unions, short-term loan providers, savings clubs and money service businesses estate and lettings agents theatres premises providing personal care and beauty treatments (hair salons, barbers, nail salons, massage centres, tattoo and piercing parlours) premises providing veterinary services visitor attractions and entertainment venues (museums, galleries, cinemas, theatres, concert halls, cultural and heritage sites, aquariums, indoor zoos and visitor farms, bingo halls, amusement arcades, adventure activity centres, indoor sports stadiums, funfairs, theme parks, casinos, skating rinks, bowling alleys, indoor play areas including soft-play areas) libraries and public reading rooms places of worship funeral service providers (funeral homes, crematoria and burial ground chapels) community centres, youth centres and social clubs exhibition halls and conference centres public areas in hotels and hostels storage and distribution facilities You are expected to wear a face covering before entering any of these settings and must keep it on until you leave unless there is a reasonable excuse for removing it.
You should also wear a face covering in indoor places not listed here where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
Face coverings are needed in NHS settings, including hospitals and primary or community care settings, such as GP surgeries. They are also advised to be worn in care homes.
In the context of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a face covering is something which safely covers the nose and mouth. You can buy reusable or single-use face coverings. You may also use a scarf, bandana, religious garment or hand-made cloth covering but these must securely fit round the side of the face.
The police can take measures if members of the public do not comply with this law without a valid exemption and transport operators can deny access to their public transport services if a passenger is not wearing a face covering, or direct them to wear one or leave a service.
If necessary the police and Transport for London (TfL) officers have enforcement powers, including issuing fines of £200 (reduced to £100 if paid within 14 days) for the first offence.
Repeat offenders receiving fines on public transport or in an indoor setting will have their fines doubled at each offence.
After the first offence there will be no discount. For example, receiving a second fine will amount to £400 and a third fine will be £800, up to a maximum value of £6,400.
There are some circumstances where people may not be able to wear a face covering.
This includes (but is not limited to):
children under the age of 11 (Public Health England does not recommend face coverings for children under the age of 3 for health and safety reasons) people who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability where putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress if you are speaking to or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading, clear sound or facial expressions to communicate to avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others ‒ including if it would negatively impact on your ability to exercise or participate in a strenuous activity police officers and other emergency workers, given that this may interfere with their ability to serve the public There are also scenarios when you are permitted to remove a face covering:
if asked to do so in a bank, building society, or post office for identification if asked to do so by shop staff or relevant employees for identification, for assessing health recommendations (for example by a pharmacist) or for age identification purposes, including when buying age restricted products such as alcohol if required in order to receive treatment or services, for example when getting a facial in order to take medication if you are delivering a sermon or prayer in a place of worship if you are the persons getting married in a relevant place if you are aged 11 to 18 attending a faith school and having lessons in a place of worship as part of your core curriculum if you are undertaking exercise or an activity and it would negatively impact your ability to do so if you are an elite sports person, professional dancer or referee acting in the course of your employment when seated to eat or drink in a hospitality premise such as a pub, bar, restaurant or cafe. You must put a face covering back on once you finish eating or drinking Exemption cards
If you have an age, health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering:
you do not routinely need to show any written evidence of this you do not need show an exemption card This means that you do not need to seek advice or request a letter from a medical professional about your reason for not wearing a face covering.
However, some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering. This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign.
Carrying an exemption card or badge is a personal choice and is not required by law.
If you wish to use an exemption card or badge, you can download exemption card templates. You can then print these yourself or show them on a mobile device.
